PAPERGRID WORKFLOW GUIDE
A practical, privacy-first workflow
Add two or more PDFs, preview and select the pages you need, then reorder, rotate or remove individual pages in one visual output grid. PaperGrid merges that exact final plan locally in your browser.
Selected-page merging is useful when each source PDF contains a mix of relevant and unnecessary material. PaperGrid gives every source file its own selector and matching range field, then offers one combined organizer for interleaving, rotating, removing or reordering the selected pages before export.
Open Merge PDFSTEP BY STEP
How to do it
- Open Merge PDF and add at least two PDF files.
- Choose Preview pages beside a source file to render its page thumbnails locally.
- Click a selected thumbnail to exclude that page, or click an excluded thumbnail to restore it. PaperGrid keeps at least one page from each added file.
- Repeat for the other PDFs, then choose Arrange all pages to open the final output-order grid.
- Drag page cards across source boundaries or use their earlier and later buttons until the grid matches the required order.
- Use a page card's clockwise button to correct its orientation, or its remove button to omit it from the output.
- Choose Process in browser, open the download and confirm the selected pages and their order.
Visual selection and typed ranges stay together
Every selected thumbnail is reflected in the Pages field. For example, keeping pages one through three and page five produces 1-3, 5. You can also type that range directly. A blank field means every page in that source PDF is included.
- Single page: 2
- Several pages: 1, 3, 5
- Continuous range: 4-8
- Combined selection: 1-3, 5, 9-11
How the final order is decided
Without the page organizer, PaperGrid appends each source file's selected pages in file-row order. After you choose Arrange all pages, the combined grid becomes authoritative: its first card becomes output page one, removed cards are omitted, and individual card rotations are applied during export.
A reliable review routine
Use page thumbnails to remove obvious covers, blanks or appendices, but review the downloaded PDF at normal size before sharing it. Small thumbnail text can hide a wrong version, a duplicate page or a page whose orientation needs correction.
- Confirm the first and last page
- Check transitions between source files
- Look for missing or duplicate pages
- Verify orientation and readable text
- Keep the original files until the result is approved
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Common questions
Can I merge only certain pages from several PDFs?
Yes. Expand each source file, exclude unwanted thumbnails or type a range. Use Arrange all pages when the selected pages also need a custom cross-file order.
Can I change the order of individual selected pages?
Yes. Choose Arrange all pages, then drag cards or use the earlier and later buttons. The merged PDF follows that exact visual order across all source files.
Can I rotate or remove an individual page before merging?
Yes. Each card in Arrange all pages has controls to rotate that page clockwise or remove it from the final output. The original source PDF is not changed.
Can I alternate pages from two PDFs?
Yes. Use the combined organizer to place a page from the first PDF, then a page from the second, and continue alternating manually before processing.
Do page previews upload my PDF?
No. PaperGrid uses a self-hosted PDF renderer in your browser to create the thumbnails. The supported merge also runs locally.
Can visual page selection work offline?
Yes. While online, choose Prepare offline use in the merger and wait for the ready confirmation. This caches the merger and its PDF renderer; browser storage policies can later remove that cache.
