PAPERGRID WORKFLOW GUIDE
A practical, privacy-first workflow
Open PaperGrid Merge PDF while connected, choose Prepare offline use and wait for the ready confirmation. The same supported browser can then reopen the merger and combine PDFs without a network connection, subject to browser storage and device-memory limits.
Offline availability and local file processing are different claims. PaperGrid always processes supported merge files in the browser; its offline cache additionally lets a returning browser load the merger when the network is unavailable. No document is added to the cache—only PaperGrid's page, styles, script and PDF library.
Open Merge PDFSTEP BY STEP
How to do it
- Open PaperGrid Merge PDF while connected to the internet and wait for the page to finish loading.
- Choose Prepare offline use in the merger and wait until the status says Offline ready on this device. You may bookmark the page or add it to your home screen if your browser offers that option.
- Use two non-sensitive sample PDFs for the first check, then close or reload the page once while still online.
- Disconnect Wi-Fi and mobile data, reopen the same Merge PDF address in the same browser profile, and choose the test PDFs.
- Arrange the files, process them, and open the downloaded result. Reconnect before using any page or tool that was not previously cached.
What the offline cache stores
The cache contains the PaperGrid merger interface and the self-hosted code required to copy PDF pages. It does not contain files selected from your device, generated output, file names or tool settings.
- Merge PDF page
- PaperGrid styles and interface script
- Self-hosted pdf-lib processing library
- PaperGrid icon and application manifest
When offline use may stop working
Browsers control their own storage. Private-browsing sessions, cleared site data, storage pressure, enterprise policy or a browser update may remove the cached files. If that happens, reconnect and choose Prepare offline use again before the next offline session.
Why this is not a security guarantee
Working without a connection reduces network exposure during that session, but it does not secure an infected device, bypass employer policy or control browser extensions and device-management software. Keep originals and use only documents you are authorized to handle.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Common questions
Can PaperGrid merge PDFs without internet access?
Yes, in a supported browser after you choose Prepare offline use and the merger confirms that its page and processing library are cached. Browser storage policies can remove that cache, so test it before relying on it.
Are my PDF files stored for offline use?
No. PaperGrid caches its application files, not the PDFs you select or the merged output.
Do I need to install an app?
No. A returning browser can use the cached page directly. Some browsers also offer Add to Home Screen or Install, but that is optional.
Will every browser support offline merging?
No. The browser must support service workers and storage, and private or managed browsing policies may disable or clear the cache.
